He was a Virginian by birth, born in 1818; being bred to the life of an agriculturist, he took a claim in the Luckiamute Valley; now resides at Buena Vista. His wife was formerly Miss Clara Barbra, whom he married in Polk County, in 1848. Their children were -- Perry W., Martha, James M., Eliza Jane, Martin V.
