His father, Daniel Waldo, attained great prominence in the State. He was educated in part at the Willamette University, and studied law at Salem under L. F. Grover, in 1860, and was admitted to the bar in 1863, was elected State Senator in 1880, and again in 1882, and President of the Senate in 1885.
