Carl Edward Anderson was born in Hallasjomala, Vissefjarda, Smaland, Sweden, January 26, 1860. He emigrated to America in May, 1884, and came to Holdrege, Neb., and secured farm work at $12.00 per month. Next year he went to Menominee, Mich., where he had same kind of work, and later was employed on a railroad. He bought 80 acres of land in this vicinity, taking out the timber there, in which he did well. In May, 1888, he went to Tacoma, and after having been in employ if the city for some time , secured employment as waiter in the Tacoma Hotel and worker there for eight years. Worked one year for the street car company, after which he went to Spokane and stayed there for two years. Coming back to Tacoma, he secured employment in the Helma Cafe, where he stated 16 years continuously. He is now living retired, his health not having been very good of late. Anderson married to Thilda Amelia Hendrickson, who died here Oct., 16, 1904. There is one daughter, Emma Amelia, born in 1902. Anderson belongs to Cooks and Waiters Union and the Valhalla Society.
