John Bergstrom Born in Harnosand, Sweden, November 14, 1861. In that great lumber district he held variouspositions, and was for a number of years employed as foreman by the well known lumber concern, Heffner & Co., in Sundsvall. There he also took an active part in church work and sissited in the building of the Bethany church work and assisted in the building of the Bethany church (of Mission Covenant) in that city. In 1892 he emigrated to America and settled in Wisconsin. For a period of ten years he served the Mission churches at Ashland and Washburn as pastor. As the family increased and as pastorsí salaries were low in those days, he resigned from his pastorate and entered the employ of the Dupont Co. as foreman at the Parksdale plant, in Wisconsin. In the year of 1906 he was transferred to Washington to be foreman of the construction work of the new Dupont plant near Tacoma. He continued with that company in the capacity of foremen in the operating department until 1922, when he resigned and moved to Tacoma. He is now devoting his time to looking after his apartment house at 918-920 So. G street, known as Maple Lodge, besides his work as an elder in the Swedish Mission congregation. Upon his resignation from the Dupont Company, Mr. Bergstrom received a letter of commendation for his ability to fill in an excellent manner any of the positions in which he had been placed. "We have learned to admire you kind nature, honest principles, and upright character, as one willing at all times to help and advise others, and as a citizen who has always taken a firm stand for the principles of good government and as a leader in the right thought in the community," the letter read. Mr. Bergstrom is married to Margaret Eklund, born in Edanger, Wibyggera, Sweden, June 9, 1861.
