JAMES HUNTINGTON, deceased. - Was born in Windsor county, Vermont, December 25, 1800, and after residing for a time in the State of New York removed to those of Ohio and Indiana, the last of which he left, April 19, 1852, for the Pacific Coast, arriving on the twenty-sixth of October of that year. Purchasing the right of a Frenchman to certain lands in the [Cowlitz] valley, he located thereon and there resided until he was killed by a train of cars while crossing the railroad track in May, 1872.
