SETH CATLIN, deceased - Was born in Massachusetts, August 14, 1791, but when quite young was taken to Ohio, subsequently to Illinois and finally, after moving from place to place and working in the Galena mines, settled in St. Clair county, Illinios, where he married Agnes Redpath. In April, 1848, he started for Oregon by way of the plains, and after a journey of about six months arrived at his destination. Having settled on the Long Farm, above Portland, Mr. Catlin there remained until the spring of 1850, when he came to the Cowlitz river and took up a Donation claim of six hundred and forty acres, on which he resided until the day of his death, July 25, 1865. His widow followed him to rest, June 26, 1885. Their children are, John, James, Robert, Adam, Charles and Frederick.
