Hull, Lindley M., compiler and editor. "A History of Central Washington, Including the Famous Wenatchee, Entiat, Chelan and the Columbia Valleys." Spokane: Press of Shaw & Borden Co., 1929. p. 430. SAM E. MORICAL came from Minnesota with Bert Bonar in 1890. He was an energetic man, and soon made substantial improvements on his homestead, which is located about eight miles up the valley. He contributed his share of work to community development, including roads and bridges. During the early years Sam lost a storehouse by fire and since there was considerable property stored in the building, the loss was keenly felt. In 1894, he was married to Miss Alice Cannon, daughter of W. F. Cannon. Eight fine children were born to this marriage. Shortly after beginning married life in the new home, this couple went through a heavy loss by fire which destroyed all personal property except the clothing they had on. Sam Morical passed away in 1915 after two years of helpless invalidism caused by paralysis. ******************* Submitted to the Washington Biographies Project in June 2009 by Diana Smith.
