Dykstra, a longtime area logger and millwright, died May 18, 1989, at a local nursing home at the age of 84. Dykstra, who was born in Holland April 3, 1905, retired from Weyerhaeuser Co. in 1953. He liked gardening and carpentry and built his own home. He is survived by his wife, Bringfriede of Longview; two sons, William T. Dykstra and Robert L. Dykstra, both of Longview; two daughters, Dr. Trudy Clark of Los Angeles and Crystal Huka of Gig Harbor, Wash.; a sister, Hettie Mills of Kelso; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Dykstra was a member of Sandy Bend Grange. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at McVickerís Chapel on the Hill with the Rev. John Steppert officiating. Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Dykstra will be buried at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made in his name to a charity of choice.
