Patterson, Longtime Kelso Resident, Dies William Clarence Patterson, 87, a long time resident, businessman and public official in Kelso and the early day community of Catlin - now West Kelso - died Monday. Mr. Patterson served as postmaster of Catlin in the early 1900's and then ws mayor of Kelso for a time about 1906. In 1914 he operated the old washington Hotel in Kelso and later established a grocery business in Kelso. Mrsr. Patterson also served as sexton of the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Kelso - now the Cowlitz View Memorial Garden - for 10 years prior to his semi-retirement in 1945. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Kelso, a charter member of the Kelso Odd Fellows Lodge, a charter member and honorary life member of the Kelso Elks Lodge and a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Osier of Seattle; two sons, W.M. Patterso of Kelso and Chase Patterson of Cloverdale, Oregon; five grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. The McVicker-Reardon Funeral Home is in charge.
