Born July 11, 1870 in Neosho, Wis., he came to this area in 1902. Mr. Paterson served as postmaster of Catlin in the early 1900s, was mayor of Kelso for a time after 1906, operated the Washington Hotel in Kelso in 1914, and in 1924 established a grocery business called Wortman and Patterson. He was the sextonof the Odd Fellows Cemetery for 10 years prior to his semi-retirement in 1945. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Kelso, a charter member of the Kelso Odd Fellows Lodge, a charter member and honorary lifetime member of the Kelso Elks Lodge, and a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft. Survivor's include one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Osier of Seattle; two sons, W.M. Patterson of Kelso, and Chase Patterson of Cloverdale, Ore; five granchildren and numberous great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the McVicker-Reardon Chapel, with the rev. Arthus Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. The McVicker Reardon Funeral Home is in charge.
