OBITUARY - JAMES L. Second Ave., died Oct. 23, [text missing] [He was born Nov. 23] 1921, in Kelso, to James L. and Minnie (Hutto) Spooner, and was a 1941 graduate of Kelso High School. As a young man in 1940 he joined the National Guard and served in the Army Air Corps until 1945 as a prop specialist in P-38s. He served in the China-Burma campaign. For 42 years, Mr. Spooner, was owner-operator of White Line Trucking Co. He was a member of the Long Beach Elks, Kelso American Legion and the former Cowlitz Boat Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, clam digging and boating. Survivors include his wife, Norine Spooner, at home; a son, Mike Spooner of Kelso; and two grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Steppert, officiating.
