The daughter of George and Ella Poland Hill, she was born December 23, 1906, in Kelso, Washington. Her father was an early pioneer in Seaside. He had the first tourist facilities and first service station, known as Hill's Corner. After moving from Kelso to Seaside with her husband, Elmer Smith, she operated the business for many years. The Smiths built the first airport in Seaside. In later years, Mrs. Kennedy operated an antique business. She developed a mail order bookkeeping system for antique dealers that is used in the United States today. Surviving are two daughters; Eleanor Tucker, Seaside, and Marilyn Pearl, Warrenton; a sister, Verna Olmstead, Longview, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
