RONEY Lifelong area resident Wilma Edith (Griswold) Roney, 92, of 442 Michner St. S. W., Castle Rock, died Oct. 25, 1995, at a local nursing home. She was born March 2, 1903, in Carrolls, to Edwin Ervin and Edith (Doble) Griswold. She had lived in Kelso, Chehalis and Castle Rock. Mrs. Roney was most recently a member of the Kelso Christian Church. Other memberships included the Castle Rock Senior Citizens Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star Mother, having lost a son during World War II. She enjoyed gardening, belonged to several garden clubs, and was a judge at various flower competitions. She also enjoyed birds, painting and various other types of crafts. She loved her family. Her husband, Allison Verne Roney, died in l967. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Edwin R. ‘Jack” Ames in World War II and Donald L. Ames; two sisters, Evelyn Chaney and Avis Wheatley; and two brothers, Homer A. Griswold and Edwin E. Griswold. Survivors include a daughter, A. Annette Milton of Castle Rock; a stepson, Verne Roney of Black Lake, Wash; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Kelso. Friends wishing to pay respects may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
