OBITUARY - ALICE SARA (WOODS) TEETER Submitted by: Jan Redelsperger, jansperger at gmail dot com Source: Estacada Funeral Home, Clackamas Co., Oregon, April 2003 A memorial service for Alice Teeters was held Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Teeters died in Eagle Creek March 31, 2003. She was 87 years old. Alice was born December 23, 1915 in Mt. Pleasant, Washington. Her parents were Thomas and Nira Woods. She started her education at Carrolls Grade School near Mt. Pleasant. She was an avid reader from her preschool days. She attended high school at Longview and Ocean Park, Washington and graduated from Ocean Park High School in 1931 at age 16. She attended Central Washington College of Education, putting herself through school during the depression and began teaching in Grays River, Washington, teaching grades 1-5. She met Oliver Teeters, a service man in 1941 and they were married in South Bend, Washington, October 14, 1943. They moved to the farm in Eagle Creek in 1948. She started teaching elementary classes in Estacada in 1949 and taught in the Estacada School District for 32 years. She was much loved by all. She went to the University of Oregon for additional education and was certified to teach handicapped children. She was highly respected and loved by students, fellow faculty members and administration. Her husband preceded her in death in 1983. Alice was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Daughters of the American Revolution , The Garden Club, Estacada Christian Church, Teacher's Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Hultin and Margaret Breed, a brother Mark Woods, two sisters, Donna Stout and Elinor Hill and grandson, Barry Nakayana.
