OBITUARY - CLARA ALICE KALAHAN Submitted by: Vikk, VGDriver1 at aol dot com Source: "Lewis River News," Woodland, Cowlitz Co., WA, Thursday, February 13, 1958 Monday Services Held for Clara Kalahan Services were held Monday for Clara Alice Kalahan, 87, of 607 CC St., Woodland, who died Feb. 7 at home. The services were held in the Christian church at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Clifford Bethune officiating. Burial followed at Frank Abel Cemetery. Mrs. Kalahan was a Woodland area resident 70 years and was born Mar. 27, 1770[sic] in Bloomfield, Ind. She was the gold star mother of Walter E. Kalahan who served in World War 1. Survivors include: three sons, Orval and Clifford of Woodland and Raymond of Vancouver; a daughter, Alice Jones of Vancouver; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Axtell of Portland and Mrs. Nora Fenske of Canby, Ore.; a brother, Claude Newkirk, St. Helens, Ore; and 9 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren.
