Boerste Dies Tuesday 25th Requiem mass was held Tuesday, Mar. 5, for Woodland old-timer Joseph A. Boerste who died at home Mar. 22 at the age of 78. He has been a resident of Woodland 30 years and was a retired farmer and logger. Born Oct. 9, 1879 in Germany, Mr. Boerste came to the United States in 1882. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Woodland; two sons, Frank of Woodland and Joe of Portland; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The services were in the church of St. Philip of Woodland, of which he was a member. Pall bearers were Abe Martin, John Haberman, Millard Hamblen, Albert Boswell, Marcus Deans and Lenus Boys. Internment followed in Frank Abel cemetery.
