OBITUARY - FLORENCE (ANGELOW) GRAY Submitted by: Evelyn Huerd and Kari Kandoll, Volunteers, Wahkiakum County Historical Society Museum, kando at centurytel dot net Source: "Wahkiakum County Eagle", February 1996 GRAY, Florence (Angelow) Former Cathlamet resident died at Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She was born in Midvale, Utah, to John Peters Angelow and Jennetta O'Neal. The family moved to Buhl, Idaho, where she attended school. She was married to Arell Hansen Gray in 1925 at LaGrande, Ore. They left there during the early years of the depression, moving to Garibaldi, Ore. where they lived until the Great Fire in Tillamook, Ore. destroyed the forest industry. They moved to Portland where he worked in the shipyards during the war. Following the war, they moved to Cathlamet where he worked for many years in the timber industry. She spent those years in volunteer and service work for her church and community. In 1944 a son was born, David A. Gray. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Kelso where she continued with service assistance through her church, library and other community organizations. After his death in 1978, she moved to Longview and then to Bonners Ferry in 1981. While in Bonners Ferry, she volunteered her time in the elementary schools, the restorium and Boundary County hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her husband. She is survived by one sister, her son, three grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
