Services Held Today for Lavern Staats

Funeral services were held today (Thursday) for Lavern Leonard Staats, 53, who
died Monday at his home at 5610 Lewis River Rd. after a long illness.


Staats had lived in Ariel 12 years and was a member of the Methodist Church and
Masonic Lodge No. 550 of Center Line, Mich.  He was born Nov. 23, 1905 in Iowa.


Surviving relatives are his wife, Vera Staats, Ariel; a son Richard of Ariel;
and a mother, Mrs. Bertha Staats in Iowa.


The service was held in the Christian Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Clifford
Bethune officiating.  Burial was in Frank Abel Cemetery.  Woodland Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements.
