OBITUARY - DOLLY BERTHA (RHODE) UMIKER Submitted by: TerriLyn Young Source: "The Cowlitz County Advocate," 24 Jan 1957 Mrs. Dolly Bertha Umiker, 76, resident here for over 60 years, died Saturday in Cowlitz General hospital, which she had entered the previous Sunday. Dolly Rhode was born January 11, 1881, in Vancouver. The family came to Cowlitz county in the late 1880's and lived for several years in the Toutle country, where the father operated a mill. She was married to Abraham Umiker in 1903 at Castle Rock. Mr. Umiker died in March 1936. The survivors are two sons, Charles and Abraham, of Castle Rock; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Larsen and Mrs. Doris Cunningham of Castle Rock and Mrs Margaret Sowders of Portland; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; three brothers, Herman and Henry Rhode of Castle Rock, and Charles, of Tacoma; and two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Helms of Oswego, Oregon, and Mrs. Louise Lee of Seattle. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Hubbard chapel with Laurence Morley, pastor of the Christian church, officiating. Ernest Moore was soloist. Burial was in Hubbard cemetery. The pallbearers were August Hanson, William C Graham, G. T. Cunningham, N.J. Staadt, Delbert Maddux, and Ellis Davis. The Hubbard Funeral home was in charge.
