Gary E. Mattson

Gary Edward Mattson, 65, of Longview, died June 29, 2001 at St. John Medical
Center.  He was born July 20, 1935 in Centralia to Arwood E. and Lydia M Hanhi
Mattson and moved here from Centralia in 1936.  Mr. Mattson was a navy veteran
of the Korean War.  He was a member and past commander of the Longview American
Legion Post No. 155 and a member of the Longview Eagles lodge.  He enjoyed
fishing, bowling, ballrom dancing, watching the Seahawks and Mariners on
television, and taking trips to the beach.  Survivers include his wife, Cynthia
Washington Mattson at home; a son, Gary E. Jr. of Silver Lake; a daughter, Becky
Bunch of Oak Harbor, Washington; two step-sons, Vincent Vieira of Castle Rock
and La Don Vieira of Longview; a step-daughter, Cecelia Raglin of Kelso; a
sister, Dorrine Darling, of Kennewick; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held at 2 pm
Thursday at New Life Fellowship Church of God with Pastor Vaughn Matthew
officiating.  Private interment will take place at Cowlitz View Memorial
Gardens.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1339
Commerce Ave., No 310a, Longview, Washington 98632.  Columbia Funeral Service is
in charge of arrangements.
