OBITUARY - BARBARA C. (HAMMELL) SEARLS

Barbara C. Searls, 86, died Jan 4, 1997, at her home in Toutle. She was born May
26, 1910, in Castle Rock, to Frank and Caswell (Hardman) Hammell, and had lived
in Toutle since 1935, coming from Castle Rock.  Mrs Searls enjoyed travel,
fishing and camping.  Her husband of 69 years, Paul M. Searls, died June 21,
1996.  Survivors include a daughter, Lois Cooper of Silver Lake; two sons
Mitchell P. Searls of Toutle and Max K. Searls of McLeese Lake, British
Columbia; a brother, Floyd Searl of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren.  A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at
Silver Lake cemetery with Chaplain Lonnie Hamby officiating.  Memorial
contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis, Southwestern
Washington Chapter, 192 Nickerson, Suite 100, Seattle, Wash. 98109.  Hubbard
Funeral Home is in charge.
