ROSARY TOMORROW FOR COUPLE WHO DIED IN CAPITOL HILL BLAZE A rosary will be said tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for John and Cecilia Sullivan, a Capitol Hill couple who died Friday in a fire at their family home. A Mass will be said Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's, 732 18th Ave. E John Sullivan, 78, was born in New Jersey and raised in Butte, Mont. Cecilia Sullivan, 70, was born in Kalama, Cowlitz County. The couple married in Kalama in 1940 and raised 10 children in their Capitol Hill home. Neighbors said they were always willing to lend anyone a hand. John Sullivan played football at the University of Portland and was named to that school's Hall of Fame in the 1930s. He was also a semi-professional football player for a Canadian team and a team in Renton called the Renton Rams. He was also a professional boxer, winning the Northwest welterweight title in 1936. He worked for The Boeing Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1973 as a production supervisor. Cecilia Sullivan was a homemaker and raised their 10 children as well as acting as surrogate mother for numerous children in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The couple is survived by their children, Sheila Heutmaker of Seattle; Patricia (Patty) Prinz of Edmonds; MaryAnn Rerden of Seattle; and Michael, Terry, Eileen, Steve, Casey, Kathleen and Kimberly Sullivan, all of Seattle.
