Eltie Ross

Former longtime Kalama resident Eltie Ross, 83, of Bemis, S.D., died June 28,
1999, in a Clear Lake, S.D., hospital.

She was born Sept. 23, 1915, in Lewistown, Mont., to Fred and Eltie (Welch)
Rowland, and lived most of her life in Washington. She came to Kalama in about
1947 and lived there until moving to Bemis about four years ago.

Survivors include a son, Russ Whitcraft of Kelso; a daughter, Marie Rhody of
Bemis; four brothers, Bud Rowland of Kelso, James Rowland of Bellingham, Melvin
Rowland of Seattle and Frank Rowland of Amboy; four sisters, Jessie Johnson of
Castle Rock, Irene Davis of Bend, Ore., Juanita Saylor of Sweetgrass, Mont., and
Clara Osbeck of Seattle; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by four sons, Lawrence, Don, James and Richard; two
sisters; and two brothers.

A memorial luncheon will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the home of Russ Whitcraft,
250 Dusty Drive, Kelso.
