"Kelso Resident Dead"

   One of Kelso's most progressive citizens passed away Friday when John C.
Patton succumbed in a Portland hospital to an attack of typhoid fever.  Mr.
Patton was born in Cowlitz county on Nov. 15, 1859, on the old Leonard
homestead, which now comprises a portion of West Kelso.  He is survived by his
wife and one child.  The funeral was held here yesterday afternoon.
