Doris Glyn Taylor Doris Glyn Taylor died Nov. 12, 2004, at Courtyard Healthcare. She was 94. A memorial service begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Davis Community Church. A reception will follow the service. Born in Bonnamie, La. on April 9, 1911, she was the fourth of seven children. Since her father helped set up new lumber mills for the Long Belle Lumber Company, her family lived in many different areas in the south when she was a child. She met her future husband, William Hillman Taylor, when he was working as a reporter for the Longview, Wash. "Daily News." They wed on Aug. 7, 1933, in Longview. Following his discharge from the army, they settled in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he retired from working at Blue Cross of Northern California, where he was the director of underwriting for many years. She and her husband retired to Ashland, Ore. in 1971, where they were very active in the Shakespearean Festival. In 1977, they moved to Grass Valley, where she served as a deacon of the Sierra Presbyterian Church. After her husband's death in 1984, she continued to live in Grass Valley until 1996, when she relocated to Davis to be closer to family. She was active in the PEO and Order of the Eastern Star organizations. She is survived by William Taylor and his wife Dea of Sacramento; a brother, M.J. Ferguson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and 9 nieces and nephews. Remembrances may be made in her name to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, CA 95617, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
