Daniel Strupp Former local resident Daniel Charles McDonald Strupp, fondly known to his friends as "The Coon", passed away Jan. 16, 2011, surrounded by family and friends. Daniel was a humble and loving person who always aspired to be a better person and to share his happiness and passion for life with those around him. During his lifetime the challenges he faced he confronted and overcame, strengthening his values and self-sufficiency. He was blessed with the opportunity to live the last seven years of his life with his childhood friend, Daniel Fernandez and his wife, Lillian. He is survived by a son, Damon McDonald; two granddaughters, Madylin and Karleigh McDonald and their mother, Dinaah Shane; three stepsons, Darren, Derrek and Travis; a stepdaughter, Kim; 11 stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; and numerous cousins, foster brothers and longtime friends. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Vancouver Vineyard Church, 2007 E. 12th St. His final resting place will be the Rose Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hamilton-Mylan Funeral Home, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, Daniel asked those wishing to remember him partake in the simple act of spending some extra time with a relative, or an old or new friend.
