OBITUARY: HAROLD LEROY CHAMBERLAIN, SR. Submitted by: Leona Johnson Source: "The Daily News", Longview, Cowlitz Co., Washington. 3 Dec 2009. Longtime local resident Harold LeRoy Chamberlain Sr., 89, of Longview passed away Nov. 27, 2009, at the Hospice Care Center. He was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Fall City, Ore., to DeRoland and Dora (McDowell) Chamberlain and attended school through the eighth grade in Skamania County. Harold was a crane operator for LongBell for 27 years and retired from Weyerhaeuser after 20 years as a lumber stackerman in 1982. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Longview Eagles. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and watching Mariner baseball on T.V. Harold was friendly and a good father. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He married Betty J. Casper Oct. 1, 1949, in Kelso. She survives him at home. Also surviving are two sons, Harold L. Chamberlain Jr., of Longview and Raymond P. Chamberlain of Vancouver; three daughters, Linda K. Crossland (John) and Kim A. Soto, both of Kelso, and Carol J. Davis (Allen) of Springfield, Ore.; two brothers, Melvin and Alan Chamberlain; a sister, Pauline Froehlich; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and other children and grandchildren from a previous marriage. Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter. A celebration of his life and potluck will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Beacon Hill Baptist Church.
