Ostrander, John Y. - Born in Cowlitz County, W. T., April 26, 1857; died at Olympia March 1st [1914]. He was a member of one of the best known pioneer families, after whom the town of Ostrander, in Cowlitz County, was named. He studied law under William Strong, one of Oregon's first judges. He held several offices in Olympia, Seattle and Juneau. Eleven years he lived in Alaska. His wife was Fanny S. Crosby, they being married in 1880. He had seven sisters, who survived him.
