OBITUARY: EDITH LENORE (ORIN) HARRISON Submitted by: Cathy Cadd, cathycadd -at- msn.com Source: "The Daily News", Longview, Cowlitz Co., Washington. 7 Jan 2009 Edith Lenore Harrison passed away Dec. 17, 2008, at the age of 84, at Manor Care of Gig Harbor. She was born to Herman S. and Rebecca Jane "Jennie" (Bigger) Orin April 20, 1924, near Silt, Colo. Edith graduated from Grand Valley (Parachute) High School in 1942 and attended Ross Business School in Grand Junction, Colo. She worked at several military bases during World War II. Edith lived in many Washington and Oregon cities, including Kelso, Castle Rock, Oysterville, Ilwaco, Astoria and Rainier. She was a resident of Ocean View Convalescent Care in Long Beach before moving to Manor Care of Gig Harbor. Edith was a lifetime member of the Pythian Sisters in Castle Rock. She was also a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and was treasurer for the Oregon State chapter at one time. Edith also worked for many years with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her full-time occupation was as a homemaker. Edith is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Walter Jessen of Longview; a son, Tim L. Harrison of Longview; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvah E. "Red" Harrison, in 1986; a son, Ray A. Harrison; three sisters, Eva, Alice and Myrtle; and two brothers, Ray O'Neal and Fred Johnson. A celebration of Edith's life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the IBEW Hall in Longview. Burial has taken place at Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements were by Haven of Rest Funeral Home, Gig Harbor.
