OBITUARY: ETHYLE (TAYLOR) OYSTER Submitted by: Linda Henson (Mullins), me@lindakellie.com Source: Newspaper clipping; Jan. 8 1971 Oyster -- Mrs. Ethyle, 73, of Tacoma, Wash., died Jan. 8 in a Portland nursing home. She was born Sept. 24 1897 in Kelso and lived most of her life in Cowlitz County. She was a member of the Emanuel Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, the Kelso OES No. 98 and past matron, member of Daughters of the Nile, Zora Chapter and past queen. Survivors include a son, Byron Oyster Jr. of Tacoma; one daughter, Mary Erlandson of Berverton; six grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Smith of Tacoma and Nellie Dixon of Longview; six brothers, Earl Taylor of Longview, Donald of Florence, Ore., John of Maynard, Mass., Bill and Frank of Kelso and Clarance of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Ditlevsen-Moore Chapel with the Rev. Donald Irwin and the Kelso Eastern Star officiating. The casket will remain closed, friends wishing to pay their respects may call prior to the service. Concluding services and interment will be at Longview Memorial Park. The Ditlevsen-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
