Hooper, another of the early residents of Cowlitz County, passed awayat her home at Silver Lake Saturday.Martha Lucinda Pyle was born in Lynn county, Kansas, November 8, 1846. InMarch, 1862, she married Jesse D. Hooper. They lived in the middle east until1883, when the (sic) moved west and settled n (sic) Cowlitz county, where theyhave lived ever since.For a time they lived in the western part of the county near Stella. Aboutthirteen years ago they moved to Silver Lake to live near their son. Mr. Hooperdied several years ago.To this union were born ten children, five of whom survive their parents: JamesHooper of Silver Lake; Mary E. Parsons of Kelso; J. J. Hooper of Silver Lake;and Thomas Hooper of Scanty Grease.The funeral service was held in the Grange Hall at Silver Lake Monday at 2 p. m.It was conducted by Rev. Frank R. Gillett of Castle Rock M. E. Church, of whichdeceased was a member. Internment was made in the Silver Lake cemetery."
