Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Leo's church, the cortege leaving the home, where the body lies, at 9:45. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery under the direction of Cassedy & Allen. Knights of Columbus are asked to meet Monday at the home at 8 p.m."

Private family services will be conducted for Marguerite E. Minty, 96, of Port Angeles. Burial will be in Sequim View Cemetery. Mrs. Minty died Tuesday, March 26, 1996, in Port Angeles. She was born June 12, 1899, in Spokane to John A. and Margaret King Watson. She married James A. Minty April 21, 1920, in Seattle; he died in 1962. Mrs. Minty was a charter member of Gardiner Garden Club and past state president of the Ladies Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She was also a member of Eastern Star, Amaranth, and World War I Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include sons Robert of Sequim and James of Kent; daughters Marian Barber of New Haven, Conn., and Patricia Cole of Dallas; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Harper-Ridgeview Funeral Chapel is in charge.

James A. Minty, Gardiner, department chaplain of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, died of a heart attack Monday evening while walking off the ferry boat at Winslow.

Mr. and Mrs. Minty were returning to their Gardiner home where they lived the past 13 years after he retired from the Seattle Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at United Presbyterian Church, Sequim, at 1 p.m. Saturday under the direction of Stroud Funeral Home, Port Townsend. Burial will be in the veterans' plat at Sequim View Cemetery.

Mr. Minty was a veteran of World War I, serving in the coast artillery and at Fort Worden. After the war he spent several years in California and then returned to Seattle and retired from the fire department there in 1949.

After retiring he was fire chief for the Naval installation on Indian Island five years.

He was born Aug. 2, 1898, in Tacoma and married Marguerite Watson at Seattle April 21, 1920.

Mr. Minty was department chaplain of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past commander of District 14; a member of Jefferson Lodge 107, F&AM; Bremerton Consistory, Scottish Rite Bodies; past worthy patron of Jefferson Chapter 252, Order of Eastern Star; past royal patron of Fidelity Court 75, Order of Amaranth; a member and past commander of Henry Echternkamp Post 1460, VFW, Sequim.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite; two daughters, Mrs. P. C. Barber of Harnden, Conn.; and Mrs. Lawrence Cole of Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, James W. of Sequim and Robert S. of Hoodsport; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. George Ramsey of Berkeley, Calif.; two brothers, Walter R. Evans of Balboa Island, Calif., and William Evans, also of California.
