The following photos were submitted by Tracey R. Carter Dunlap, granddaughter of William Benjamin "Bill" and Elizabeth Euceba (Hiles) Carter. She writes:
"This is my Grandfather; William "Bill" Benjamin Carter, who was born 5 January 1882 in Lodi, San Joaquin Co., CA and died 7 May 1964 in Longview, Cowlitz Co., WA., and my Grandmother; Elizabeth Euceba (Hiles) Carter, who was born 24 June 1893 in Woodburn, Marion Co., OR and died on 6 March 1924 in Castle Rock, Cowlitz Co., WA.
William and Elizabeth had 2 children; Marion Allen Carter and Beatrice Emiline Carter, both born in Castle Rock, WA. William and Elizabeth lived together for a short time before getting married on 6 November 1920 in Kelso, WA.
William Carter was employed with a Logging Company in 1920 and sometime around 1937 he moved from Castle Rock, WA to Ryderwood, WA. He has also worked for the Steele Gang and ran locomotives for the Long Bell RR. When Long Bell shut down he went to work building logging roads.
The only story I have about my Grandmother Elizabeth Euceba (Hiles) Carter is; one day when she was very little girl, she was playing with a kitten and a bucket of water. She picked up the kitten and said; "In the name of the father, and the holy ghost, and in the hole you go!" She had dunked the kitten in the bucket of water!"
