This is Solomon C. Strong (who appears in "Fields of Flowers and Forests of Firs" remembered as "Saul" - doubtless phonetic for "Sol.") - and his wife Amelia [Thiel]. Married on the 7th of October, 1879 - (Cowlitz Co, WA).
According to data collected at Old Vancouver City Cemetery, Amelia was born in Germany. She was the sister of Hulda [Thiel] Klager, the noted lilac breeder. I have been told the sisters had a double wedding.
