Alfred Blankenship

Alfred Blankenship, 66, a city employe of Myrtle Creek, Ore., died suddently at his home near Myrtle Creek on New Year's Day.

He was born Nov. 19, 1907, at a farm near Mossyrock where he grew up. He was married Nov. 9, 1933, to Lovie Belcher and resided at times in West Virginia, Arkansas and Pennsylvania before moving to Oregon in 1951.

Before taking employment with the city of Myrtle Creek, he was employed for some years as a logger. His wife, Lovie, was away on a trip at the time of his death.

Funeral services were Saturday (Jan. 5) at Ganz Chapel, Myrtle Creek, with the Rev. Eldon Rayborn officiating.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: three sons, Brian of Roseburg, Ore., Rex of Redding, Calif., Clint of Hillsboro, Ore.; two daughters, Arlene Lesse of DePauw, Ind., Lorene Van Doren of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; a brother, Collie of Port Deposit, Md.; four sisters, Ola McCardle of Rising Sun, Md., Jane Christian of Renick, W. Va., Mary McIntire of Parkersburg, Pa., Ellen Blankenship of Riddle, Ore.; and 19 grandchildren.
