The funeral of Mrs. Amanda Jane Shaner, pioneer resident of Mossyrock was held Thursday afternoon at the Pentecostal church at that place. Rev. E. L. Whisler of the Ajlune Church of the Brethren officiated, assisted by Rev. Lyle Spradley of Mossyrock. Burial in Mossyrock cemetery was directed by the Fissel Funeral Home. Mrs. Shaner was the widow of Daniel Shaner, well known Klickitat Prairie Civil War veteran, whose death occurred nine years ago. She was a member of the Methodist church all her life, having united with it when a girl. She also belonged to the American Legion auxiliaries of Ethel and Chehalis. She was a Gold Star mother, due to the death of a son, Charles A. Shaner, in action in France while serving in the 18th Infantry of the 91st division.

Mrs. Shaner was born in Pennsylvania, February 17, 1852. Mr. and Mrs. Shaner came to Washington Territory in the 80's. About 10 years were spent in Auburn and Kent. Forty-five years ago they moved to Lewis county and engaged in farming. Their first home on Klickitat Prairie was on what was known as the Sparks place and the Mossyrock district had been the Shaner home ever since. She was affectionately known to a wide circle of friends as "Grandma" Shaner. Surviving relatives are two sons, J. W. Shaner and George Shaner of Mossyrock; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Reinkens of Mossyrock, Mrs. Maude Dunn of Harmony, Mrs. Eva Campbell of Seattle, Mrs. May Brannon of Auburn and Mrs. Belle Spath of Chehalis; 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
