"Drowning Accident at Toledo"
While attempting to wade the Cowlitz river at Toledo Friday, Allen Kime stepped into a deep whirlpool and was drowned. Allen was about 17 years old and was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Kime. His companion, a lad of about his own age, struggled bravely to rescue his friend and in endeavoring to do so sank twice.
The lads were out fishing and had not been away from their home more than half an hour when the accident occurred. The body was recovered shortly afterwards, but all means of resuscitation failed.
