Mrs. Salzer
Mrs. Salzer, the venerable and honored mother of seven sons, Jacob, of Salzer Valley; John and Gottlieb, of Newaukum; Fred, of Alberta, Canada; Daniel and August, of Centralia, and Paul, of Grand Mound, passed away at the home of her son, Jacob, in the Salzer Valley at 8 o'clock on Tuesday evening. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church on Thursday at one o'clock.
Mrs. Salzer was born in Dettinger, Wurtemberg, Germany, February 3, 1825, and was consequently eighty-four years of age at the time of her death. She came to Washington in 1875, settling in what is now known as the Salzer Valley. Mrs. Salzer was one of the oldest pioneer settlers in this part of the state, and she enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who knew her. To a wide circle of friends she was always "Grandma Salzer."
