C. B. Quick, one of Chehalis' best known and highly respected pioneers, died at midnight, December 7, aged 73 years. Had he lived until the 31st day of this month, Mr. and Mrs. Quick would have celebrated the fifty-second anniversary of their marriage, which occurred at Marshalltown, Ia., from which state the family came to Lewis county in 1886, when they located at Winlock. In the spring of 1887 they moved to Chehalis, but in the fall of 1888 returned to Iowa. In the fall of 1890 the lure of western Washington was too great and they returned to Chehalis, where the family has resided ever since. For many years Mr. Quick was engaged in the meat market business here. In recent years he had led a retired life, he and Mrs. Quick making their home just east of town on the Pacific highway.
Two sons, Harry B. Quick, prominent local automobile dealer, and Harold Quick, who is associated with the latter, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles L. Sticklin; also the widow, Mrs. Mary Quick, survive the deceased. A brother, William quick, resides at Centralia, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Knight, at Knoxville, Ia.
The body was removed to the Sticklin Mortuary, pending arrangements for the funeral.
Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock this (Friday) afternoon, Rev. R. C. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery, Centralia, under direction of C. L. Sticklin.
