CHARLES HAMMER PASSES SUDDENLY

CHEHALIS, Dec. 8 - Charles E. Hammer, a prominent contractor of Chehalis and of the state, a resident of this city for about five years, was found dead in his garage yesterday when his wife and son returned from a visit they paid to friends in the country. They had left Mr. Hammer at the home on Folsom street as he wanted to do some work on his automobile. he was found sitting on a running board, evidently the victim of a heart attack. Examining physicians pronounced death due to natural causes.

Previous to coming to Chehalis, Mr. Hammer had lived in Butte, Mont., where he engaged in large mining enterprises. Besides his wife, Mrs. Elvina Hammer, and son, Carl, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Jennie Cannon and Mrs. Carl Franson, both of Butte, and Mrs. W. C. P. Pierce of Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Bert, resident in Chehalis; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Swanson of San Francisco; a sister and brother in Norway, and six grandchildren.

The body is at the Sticklin parlors.
