Chas. R. Hadley, Former Local Man Dies.

Charles R. Hadley, 73 prominent in the hotel circles of the state for 40 years, passed away at the family home in Tacoma, October 19 after a long illness. Mr. Hadley was born in Greenfield, Ohio, July 31, 1858. He came to Washington in 1889 and settled at Winlock. He operated the St. Helens hotel in Chehalis, Yakima hotel in Yakima and the Byron hotel in Bellingham. After coming to Tacoma in 1905 he operated the Mason hotel and in 1918 purchased the Park hotel, which he sold in July, when his health failed. Mr. Hadley was a member of the Tacoma Moose lodge, Tacoma Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Hotel association.

He is survived by his widow, Mary M., a son, Jack M., Tacoma; three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Stowell of San Francisco, Mrs. H. P. Hassell, Seattle, and Miss Melba Hadley, Tacoma.

Mrs. Hadley's partner in the Park hotel for many years was his brother-in-law, H. C. Griffith, preceded him in death. Messrs. Hadley and Griffith gained a wide acquaintanceship in the Park hotel management and were among the most popular landlords in Tacoma for many years. Funeral services were held at Tacoma last Thursday.
