Funeral of Prof. D. O. Dean In Seattle Monday
Funeral services were held in Seattle Monday for Dennis O. Dean, 67, who died in that city Wednesday monrning, January 13, following a surgical operation from which he failed to rally. Mr. Dean, who had been principal of the educational department of the state training school at Chehalis the past year and a half, was born in Ohio. He would have been 67 years old last Sunday. He was one of the well known teachers of the state, coming to Olympia 29 years ago. For about five years he was principal of the West Side school in that city, going to Seattle in 1907. While teaching at the Y. M. C. A. in Seattle, Mr. Dean continued the study of law, being admitted to the bar in 1910. Later he became principal of Oak Lake school, near Seattle, holding this position for 19 years previous to coming to Chehalis. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Emma N. Dean; a daughter, Miss Mary Jeannette Dean, and a son, Dennis M. Dean, all of Seattle; also two other sons, William Paul Dean of Detroit and James S. Dean of South Dakota. Rev. Cleveland Kleihauer of the University Christian church at Seattle officiated at the funeral. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery at Olympia.
