The death of Dan Russell occurred early Friday morning at his home at 1151 Lewis street. Death was due to injuries received in an auto wreck early Sunday morning, April 3, 1927, near Fir Tree Lane, south of Tenino, when his back was broken and other injuries received. Chas. Holloway, whose pelvis and legs were broken in the same accident, has since recovered and is able to be about. Russell, who was 36 years of age, had resided in Chehalis a number of years and had a large circle of friends. he was an expert automotive electrical mechanic. Russell was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, in which he was active; L. R. Fiscus Post, American Legion; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by three young children, Daniel Jr., James and Annabel June, whose mother died about three years ago; also three brothers, J. P. Russell, Chehalis businessman, and Alex and Bruce Russell of Winnipeg, Can.

There was a large attendance Sunday afternoon at the funeral of Dan Russell, which was held at the Fissel Funeral Home. Rev. Fred Watkins of the Episcopal church officiated. There was a great profusion of beautiful floral offerings. Members of the Knights of Pythias lodge attended in a body and this order had charge of the graveside services. The American Legion was also represented by a good-sized delegation and its firing squad which had a part in the services at Claquato cemetery. Later taps closed the ceremony.
