OBITUARY
Mollie A. Bennight, wife of Mr. J. E. Bennight, died at the family residence on North Buckner street in this city on the evening of Sunday, January 2, 1915, after a long illness. The immediate cause of her death was tuberculosis.
Mollie A. Cox was born at Vesta, Arkansas, which place was named by her mother, on October 26, 1889. She was married to Mr. J. E. Bennight on January 1, 1909 at Champ, Oklahoma, where she was at that time assistant postmistress. Miss Cox, it is said, was one of the youngest assistant postmistresses in the United States at the time of her appointment.
Mrs. Bennight came to Centralia with her husband about three years ago, Mr. Bennight being interested in the Washington Coal & Mining Company for some time. The deceased, during her comparatively short residence in the city, had made many friends, as was evidenced by the large display of floral offerings at the funeral.
Besides her husband Mrs. Bennight leaves to mourn her loss two small sons, her mother, Mrs. L. J. Cox, of this city, and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Gragg, of Henrietta, Oklahoma.
The funeral services were held from the family residence yesterday afternoon, Rev. L. W. Steele, pastor of the Free Methodist church, officiating. Interment was made in the Mountain View cemetery.
