Frank T. McNitt

Frank T. McNitt, one of Centralia's pioneer business men and civic leaders, died at his home November 23, at the age of 87 years. His death followed a long illness. He was a resident of Centralia for 44 years, and had engaged in a hardware business bearing his name for 25 years, retiring in 1915. He was mayor of Centralia in 1897-98 and served two terms on the school board. He was a member of the Presbyterian church there for 42 years and was trustee and elder the past 15 years. He was a member off [sic] the B. P. O. Elks and Knights of Pythias. He came to Centralia from Santa Ana county, Cal., in 1889. Surviving relatives are his widow, Lucy A. McNitt; four children, Mrs. O. E. Nelson, Mrs. George Ellsbury, Frank T. McNitt Jr., all of Centralia, and Mrs. L. M. Anderson of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. S. C. Kress, Irving, Ill., and Mrs. Jennie Jackson, living in Kansas, three grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
