"Harry K. Davis Taken By Death - Pioneer Born in Lewis County 70 Years Ago Passes Away - Chehalis News"
Chehalis, Sept. 1. - Harry K. Davis, who was born in Lewis county nearly 70 years ago, died yesterday at his home in the Cora district, 10 miles east of Randle, on the upper Cowlitz. Mr. Davis was the son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Davis, who were among the best known of Lewis county's early pioneers, the Davis family home being at Claquato, three miles west of Chehalis. It was there that L. A. Davis and his several brothers were well known factors in the early development of this district in the period of the sixties and later. It was at Claquato also that Harry Davis was born and spent his early years. About 1885 his father took up a homestead in the upper Big Bottom country where the pioneer life was again lived over, supplies being packed in over a foot trail for a time from Chehalis, a distance of 75 miles.
Mr. Davis is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lottie Davis, a son, Adrian Davis, and a daughter, Lottie.
The body was brought to Chehalis today to Boone's mortuary and funeral services probably will be held Tuesday with burial at historic Claquato cemetery.
