Transcribed by Dan Brown. James W. Brown was a brother of Jonathon Brown and William "Roby" Brown. Additional information on James W. Brown:

Dan Brown would certainly like to know the location and dates of operation of the business of James Wilda Brown in Washington (probably in Lewis or Grays Harbor Co during the 1920s, 30s or early '40s) ? Are there any business directories available ? James is the only Brown brother that went west but then went back east to PA to retire. We know by family tradition that James W. Brown made many trips by train back and forth from WA and the Blue Ridge with his family. On one trip east, James's daughter named America Clyde or "Clyda" died of apparent food poisoning while going thru Arizona. She had been possibly born in Montesano or area in 1918 and was 4 yrs old when she died enroute. It is unknown where she is buried but likely somewhere in Ashe Co., NC where the Browns had lived for so long. After the death of Clyda, James's wife, Ora (Wyatt) remained in the east and refused to travel by train or back to western Washington.
