Joe Saindon Dies Suddenly Thursday Morning

Joseph Y. Saindon, prominent pioneer Chehalis furniture dealer, died suddenly Wednesday about midnight from a heart attack. He was 63 years of age and for the past 28 years had been a member of O. F. Saindon Company, the oldest furniture firm in this part of the state. Mr. Saindon came to Lewis county as a ten year old lad with his parents 53 years ago, when they settled on historic Cowlitz prairie, 17 miles southeast of Chehalis. He was widely and most favorably known all over the county by many friends.

Mr. Saindon's health had not been good of recent years, but he had been fairly well of late. During the early part of Wednesday evening he had enjoyed a card game with others at the Elks' club rooms and was in the best of spirits. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and the local Elks' lodge.

Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Nora Conway Saindon, member of a pioneer south Newaukum valley family; two sons, Harvey and Floyd Saindon of Chehalis; and a daughter, Mrs. Edward Hearne, wife of the well known movie actor, living at Glendale, Calif.; a brother, Alex Saindon of Chehalis, with whom he was associated in business; and two sisters, Mrs. Elinor Chamberlain of Chehalis and Mrs. Josephine Calvin of Seattle. The body was removed to the Sticklin Mortuary.
