Commissioned Navy Ensign

CHEHALIS, Aug. 10 - Marcus Boettcher, a teacher in the Chehalis high school, left Saturday for Washington, D. C., where he will undergo training after being commissioned an ensign in the United States navy.

Boettcher came to Chehalis in 1936 as science instructor in the high school. In addition, he acted as track coach and until two years ago was assistant football coach under Robert Brumblay.

Following some training at Washington, D. C., he will go to Cornell university, for further indoctrinization before joining active forces of the navy. His commission came in the navy's physical education department.

No successor has yet been chosen to fill the vacancy in the teaching staff at the high school, according to J. D. Glann, superintendent.
