Morton

It has been announced that William Ghosn, operator of the Morton Meat market the past several years, has sold out to Carl Day of Mineral. Mr. Day, who has been a resident of Mineral the past 17 years, with his wife, is moving into the house formerly occupied by Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Coleman, beside the Community Methodist church. Mr. Day plans on taking over the operation of the market the first of the year.

Herb Rossborough and son, Willard, of Greenville, Cal., spent Christmas holidays in Morton with relatives.

Word was received in Morton, of the passing of H. A. Bringolf, sr., Dec. 28, at a Tacoma hospital. He was taken to the hospital for an appendicits operation, from which he never recovered. His many Morton friends were shocked at his sudden passing. Mr. Bringolf has been employed by the West Fork Logging company for many years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Bringolf; one son, Harry, Jr., and daughter, Mrs. Betty Daley, and one grandchild. Funeral services were held in Tacoma Saturday, Dec. 30.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker of Portland, Ore., spent Wednesday and Thursday in Morton calling on relatives and friends.

Ward Hartman and family spent Christmas in Seattle at the home of Mrs. Hartman's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Hazen.

Christmas guests at the C. B. Smith home were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robertson of Seattle, Miss Alverna Smith of Ione, and David Coleman of Longview.

The Catholic Ladies held a card party Friday evening in the Masonic hall, lower floor. Pinochle and bridge were played.

Mrs. Susan Otis, daughter, Lily and son, Eddie, spent the weekend in Seattle.

The T. F. Tennent family spent Christmas at the J. B. Campbell home.

Mrs. Agnes Thiel, Mrs. Bennie Ward and Miss Blanch Ward were initiated into Maple Camp, Royal Neighbors of America, Thursday evening. This was their last meeting of the year. Installation of officers will be held Jan. 11. Mrs. Gladys Russell is the retiring oracle.
